Avoiding Gum Infection With Vitamin C – Rich Food And Supplements
Studies had proven that Vitamin C – rich food and supplements helps in preventing the occurrence of gum infection and gum disease. Vitamin C is is an antioxidant which makes it responsible in repairing damaged tissues and bones by regenerating it. People having a Vitamin C deficiency are more likely to be infected with gum infection.
Vitamin C can be found mostly in citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges. It can be also found in strawberries, mangoes, kiwi fruit, grapefruit, broccoli and red pepper. Vitamin C intake can also be increased by taking Vitamin C supplements. However, chewing Vitamin C supplements should be avoided for high level of acidity may cause tooth damage.
Prevent gum infection with proper oral hygiene practice combined with proper diet and increasing the intake of Vitamin C, with this gum infection may be completely avoided.
